After breakfast at our hotel in Fussen, we drove to see the castles Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. I had previously reserved our tickets online, so we arrived an hour early, as instructed to pick them up.
This area was by far the most tourist-filled thing we saw the entire trip. So many selfie sticks. However, the lake beside the castles was beautiful, with a fantastic view of the Alps on the German-Austrian border.
We toured Hohenschwangau first, which was the more decorated of the two, since Neuschwanstein was never actually finished before the king’s death. But Neuschwanstein was HUGE! Can I have a castle now, please?
I wanted to get the classic shot of the castle from Mary’s Bridge, but it was unfortunately closed during our visit for construction and renovations. However, as we were driving away, we found a pretty cool shot, so pulled the car over for a few more pictures.
