Our final full day in Kauai, we decided to go check out Anini Beach. This is a smaller beach near Princeville. The road narrows to one lane and gets bumpy at the start of the beach, so we parked in the area right before it narrowed and stayed on that end of the beach. It was fairly rocky, but had some nice shade trees. Overall, this was not my favorite beach. Several of the beaches we drove by on the way looked a bit nicer, and I may have preferred to stop at one of those.
The water was calm, though, although we arrive right as the tide was rising, so we only spent a short amount of time here as we were slowly running out of beach. LS built a “garden” in the sand with blooms that had fallen of the trees and with the abundance of rocks, but the tide kept washing it away.
After we left the beach, we drove to check out the Kilauea Point Lighthouse, though we didn’t drive all the way up to it. We then grabbed some lunch before heading back to the resort to spend the rest of our afternoon in the pool.
We ate dinner at the resort that night and finished off our meal with a delicious lava cake.

The next morning we finished packing up and headed back to the airport. The plane had a bit of a delay leaving, as they needed maintenance to sign off on something, but it really just meant we didn’t have any layover in Oahu, and just immediately got on the plane to Hilo.
Once we arrived in Hilo, we picked up our rental car and some groceries then drove about half an hour to our Airbnb in Volcano Village.
