Tahiti + Moorea – March 16-20, 2017

Thursday, March 16

We arrived in Tahiti after 10pm local time. We took a taxi to our resort, InterContinental Resort Tahiti, and checked into our room. It was too dark to explore, and we were pretty exhausted, so we immediately went to sleep.

Friday, March 17

The next morning, we woke up and stepped out on our private balcony to see a gorgeous rainbow streaking across the sky. Paradise! We ate breakfast, then headed down to the lagoonarium to do some snorkeling before we needed to catch the ferry to Moorea.

The ferry was departing at 3 pm, so we eventually packed up our things, check out of the hotel, and took a taxi to the ferry port. The ride between the islands was about 45 minutes, and I had arranged for transportation to our resort through the hotel concierge that morning. We were picked up and driven through the windy roads on the northern side of the island until we finally arrived at the InterContinental Resort Moorea.

We checked into our room, a bungalow with its own private plunge pool, then headed out to just explore the resort.

Saturday, March 18

Most of our days on Moorea were pretty lazy and relaxing, just like we wanted them to be. We spent most of our mornings at the beach, then would grab some drinks in the afternoon.

On Saturday evening there was a dinner show, Soiree Blanche. It had a mix of Cirque du Soleil-esque acrobatic performances as well as crowd participation. Mr. Strange and I got pulled on stage twice!

Sunday, March 19

On Sunday, it was overcast and drizzled rain for awhile, so we walked around and looked at the sea turtles in the lagoon outside the sea turtle care center. The rain finally cleared and we were able to lounge on the beach.

Monday, March 20

Our last full day in Moorea, we decided to do a helmet dive. They took us out on a boat, then we put on yellow helmets that were connected via tubes back to air on the boat, allowing us to breathe freely while walking underwater. The guides attracted all sorts of fish and rays with some food, and it was an amazing experience! I highly recommend this if you’re in Moorea and don’t scuba dive. You don’t even need to know how to swim.
